Dear Subscribers,

Greetings!

Artists On Art #5 (winter) is scheduled to come out this Monday (tomorrow)!

This quarterly art magazine is amazing. The best. Well worth the subscription fee. I felt this way even BEFORE I had the opportunity to write an article for this new issue. The article is about my approach to still life and my thoughts on what it takes to be a professional artist. And there are lots of other great artists in this issue.

Here is a teaser screenshot:

Last week's limited palette went well so I decided to keep going with that theme. This time I chose a strange lineup of colors (strange for me at least). Half of these colors are "B team" colors, meaning they are useful to me but not entirely essential. It made for an interesting experiment.

From left to right: Ivory Black, Phthalo Blue, Cadmium Orange, Burnt Umber, Lemon Yellow, Titanium White.

The setup: (You can't tell in the photo but there is a smaller secondary greenish shade on the hideous lamp)

And I painted a new miniature. Back to the knife. Lots of paint.
