Dear Subscribers,
Greetings!
New self portrait.
My teachers at the Schuler School used to say something to the effect of: "You could paint a portrait and make the skin purple and it would still look pretty good as long as the values are correct." Intuitively this makes perfect sense. Value is king. I've found this to be true, at least with still life objects. My goal was to push this idea to the extreme in a portrait.
